Welcome to Ickenham

Ickenham’s green spaces and easy access to Central London make it an attractive residential area. It has a long history, appearing in the Domesday Book three times under the name ‘Ticheham’. The village was originally split into four manors, which became two: Ickenham and Swakeleys.  Today it is a suburban area within the London Borough of Hillingdon.

The local transport facilities include Ickenham and Hillingdon (Swakeleys) stations on the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines and West Ruislip station (opened as Ruislip & Ickenham) on the Central line and Chiltern Main Line. Local bus routes U1 also connect the village to West Drayton/Ruislip (U1) and Uxbridge/Ruislip (U10).

Reminders of Ickenham’s history can still be found – the centre of the village is graced by the 14th century St Giles’ church, a village pond and a village pump. The Grade 1 listed 17th century Jacobean mansion Swakeleys House still stands, along with 28 other nationally listed buildings or structures.
