The Association’s Position

The Ickenham Residents’ Association opposes HS2 on the grounds that:

  • the business case over states the economic benefits of HS2 and the proposal is poor value for money, and
  • the project is environmentally damaging, not only in the open country through which it passes, but also the loss of amenities, businesses and properties along the line in Greater London.
  • there is no recognition of property blight – if the government cannot afford compensation it cannot afford HS2.

The Ickenham Residents’ Association is also affiliated to other organisations such as HS2 Action Alliance and Hillingdon Against HS2, an umbrella organisation for groups opposing HS2 in Hillingdon.

All of these groups, and many more including national organisations representing the interests of the countryside and many Local Authorities share the same view that HS2 has:

  • No business case
  • No environmental case and
  • No money to pay for it.
