Possible change to Council Tax Reduction Scheme: Your views sought
From the Council:
Good afternoon,
We are considering changing the current Council Tax Reduction Scheme from April 2020 and replacing it with a Council Tax Reduction Banding scheme.
Certain groups, such as pensioners, will not be affected by the changes. Working age persons currently in receipt of Council Tax Reduction may be affected by the proposed changes.
We have been working on designing a local scheme and are now carrying out a public consultation on our draft proposals. To see the details of the proposed changes and have your say about them, please complete this survey by midnight on 3 November 2019.
For more details on:
- Why and how the scheme is changing;
- Who will be affected by the changes; and
- How to take part in the consultation
Please visit our website: https://hillingdon.gov.uk/consultation or contact the Customer Engagement Team on 01895 277038 or at customerengagement@hillingdon.gov.uk
We would like to hear from as many people as possible so can you please help to publicise the consultation by sharing the information at your various meetings and/or any other medium you use to communicate with local residents.
Kind regards
—

Prayer vigil 6pm this evening Hillingdon Station
Following the tragic events of Tuesday and the murder that took place on Hillingdon Station, Rev Reg Craig of Hillingdon Park Baptist Church has agreed with the Station Customer Service Manager to have a prayer vigil tomorrow evening (Thursday) at 6pm. This will happen outside the main entrance. The purpose of this event is for us to show solidarity as a community of all faiths and none and to stand together against the violence on our streets. It is not political.
You are invited to attend.

URC Late Summer forecourt sale – September 7th
Keep that holiday feeling going at the URC!
Yes, even when the holidays are over and most people are back at work or school there’s the Late Summer Forecourt Sale at the URC to look forward to! It’s on Saturday 7th September from 10am to 12 Noon, admission is free and there will be a range of stalls including plants, bric-a-brac, boxed games, DVDs/CDs etc and our full range of books priced from 50p to £5.
As a break from browsing and buying there will be coffee, tea and lovely homemade cakes as well. Please get there if you can, and if you have items to donate bring them to the church between 3pm and 7pm on Friday 6th or ring Richard Piper on 01895 634348 for collection.
Should the sun stop shining most things will be inside, but it has been shining on us in another sense as we are currently running over £500 ahead of where we were at this time last year, so many thanks from us and “our” good causes for all the support.
Last but not least, make sure that you note the date of 5th October for our Autumn jumble sale. The one earlier in the year raised a four figure sum and represented a new record for us and it would be nice to do it again!

Footpath closure and archaeological works off Harvil Road

We will be carrying out works to get a better understanding of any significant archaeological remains which are in this area. A section of the public right of way, U34 footpath will be temporarily closed from 22 August until spring 2020. This is to ensure public safety during the ongoing archaeology and site survey works. For more details please see the notification sent to residents by clicking here.
Update on overnight lane closures on Harvil Road
The overnight lane closures on Harvil Road scheduled to take place between the 16 – 31 August have been postponed. You can read the notification sent to residents about these works, by clicking here. Reminder: Breakspear Road South closure
Reminder: Closure of Breakspear Road South starting 6am on Saturday 20 July
Posted on Jul 18th 2019 by HS2 in Hillingdon
We’re continuing our preparatory works in your area. As part of this work we need to close a section of Breakspear Road South to safely complete the construction of the new Merck, Sharpe and Dohme access road and re-position and reinstall various utility and service connections.
We recognise road closures and diversions affect both the public and the local community and will cause significant impacts on your journey plans. We apologise for the disruption that these works will cause to journeys in the area.
We have scheduled the work to be completed in three phases, which we explain fully below.
Phase 1 – Full road closure for 28 days, starting Saturday 20 July at 6am to Friday 16 August at 8pm
Phase 2 – Northbound lane closure for 16 days, starting Friday 16 August at 8pm to Saturday 31 August at 6am
Phase 3 – Full road closure for 15 days, starting Saturday 31 August at 6am to Saturday 14 September 2019 at 8pm
We encourage all drivers to follow the advised diversion route shown in the notification, which can be found here. We have created a dedicated Breakspear Road South Closure page on our website here.
The closure will begin north of the Merck, Sharpe and Dohme entrance and end north of Gatesmead Farm. You can see a map of the closure and the diversion on this page here. Access will be maintained to residential properties at all times.
During the closure Newyears Green Lane will be access only from Breakspear Road South. To help alleviate and mitigate disruption, we will be installing additional signage at other local link roads. The advisory signage with a ‘No through route, please follow diversion’ message will be implemented on the following local roads
- Long Lane
- High Street
- Eastcote Road
- Duck Hill Road
- Ladygate Lane
- Sharps Lane
If you would like to talk to us about this closure please contact our HS2 Helpdesk on 08081 434 434 or visit us at a drop-in. Please click here for details of our upcoming drop-ins.
