Breakspear Road South: Update
As you will have realised, the previous announcement from HS2 proved to be incorrect. We now have an update on the temporary traffic lights. Work starts on Monday 12th March.
The link is https://hs2inhillingdon.commonplace.is/news/2018/03/09/update-on-lane-closure-on-breakspear-road-south
This is at the heart of the message:
A northbound lane closure would be required during March on Breakspear Road South to enable the set-up of a construction compound. These works are set to commence on Monday 12th March for a period of up to three weeks. Two way traffic lights will be utilised to ensure that traffic flow is maintained in the area. The traffic lights will be in operation 24 hours a day but will be manually operated at peak times (07:00 – 10:00 and 15:00 – 18:00) to enable disruption to be minimised and alleviate pressure on the network.
Breakspear Road South closures imminent
Traffic lights will be in operation on the northbound lane of Breakspear Road South from 7am to 7pm starting Tuesday 6th March, The lights will be just north of the railway bridge.
HS2 says, “We recognise that this may result in delays but, unlike a full closure, it will allow traffic to head in both directions.”

Interactive map of LBH Conservation & Tree Preservation areas
Just found this interactive map from LBH that shows conservation areas and tree preservation order areas. Type Swakeleys House into the search box, close the Legend box and you get a decent zoomable map of the Ickenham conservation area and beyond.
Breakspear Road South lane closures
HS2 ‘ Early Works’ programme to create a construction site for the bridge over Breakspear Road South requires northbound lane closures on this road north of the Chiltern line bridge. These are planned to take place in January 2018 (3 weeks) and May/June 2018 ( 6 weeks)….we have asked that they do not take place at same time as lane closures on Harvil Road so these dates may change slightly. There will be traffic light controls.
HS2 mop up
Some HS2 information comes up in Tweets (over on the right of our web pages), some in news updates (here), some in the HS2 page on this site. We’re going to try and do a monthly mop up which may replicate some of the things you already know. Better this than leave things out.
Here goes:
On 2nd November HS2 announced the five shortlisted bidders which will be invited to tender for the £2.75 billion contract covering the design, build and maintenance of at least 54 trains which will come into service from 2026. The five (non-British parent) companies are: Alstom Transport; Bombardier Transportation UK Ltd; Hitachi Rail Europe; Patentes Talgo S.L.U and Siemens PLC.
(The details were buried in the Government HS2 Info‘ link on the HS2 page.)
