HS2 piling works

FROM HS2
We’re writing to let you know about some planned works that we will be carrying out in your area.    From 11 March to 30 June 2024, we will be carrying out piling works at our Gate 2 site, in the area west of Breakspear Road South and north of the Chiltern Railways Line.
These works are part of the construction of the eastern portal of the Copthall Tunnel.
We do not expect any noise or vibration to disturbance nearby residents. Monitoring will be in place throughout these works. We will use water sprays to reduce dust generated by construction activities.   For further information please see our works notification.  https://www.hs2.org.uk/work-items/notice-of-piling-works-at-copthall-tunnel-site/
We would like to apologise in advance for any disruption or inconvenience this may cause. Every effort is being taken to ensure that these works are carried out in the least impactful way.
We will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.

Flood risk: Can you advise?

From LBH

This is a reminder to all those interested that the Council’s Local Flood Risk Management strategy is out for public consultation.
The strategy is a key document in how the Council will work with residents, communities and partners (i.e. Thames Water and Environment Agency) to manage flood risk.
We are very keen to hear from residents on the current flood risk within communities, where has flooded before and where there are concerns. We are also keen to understand if the strategy is missing any information or advice. The Strategy will be a ‘living document’ and will be subject to an annual review but we would like to hear from you now so that we can shape the strategy to best suit our residents.

The strategy and consultation material can be found here:
https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/article/12238/Local-Flood-Risk-Management-Strategy-consultation

There is a structured questionnaire which will help guide the kind of input we are seeking but if you would prefer to provide a free response, please do not hesitate to send that to me.

The consultation ends on Sunday 3 March.

If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me in the first instance.
Best wishes

TfL strikes

From TfL
Planned strike action will affect Tube services between Sunday 7 and Friday 12 January. If the strike action goes ahead:
• On Sunday 7 January, Tube services will close earlier than normal. Customers are advised to complete Tube journeys by 17:30
• From Monday 8 until Thursday 11 January, severe disruption is expected, with little to no service expected to run
• On Friday 12 January, Tube services will start later than normal with a good service expected by midday
London Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR, tram, bus and National Rail services are not involved in this strike action. Some services will be much busier than normal and affected by station closures where stations also serve London Underground lines. Queuing and one-way systems may be in place.

Plan ahead, check before you travel and leave more time for your journey.
For full details on strikes, visit our website

You may find it easier to walk or cycle some journeys. Our website has information on cycling in London, including our Santander Cycle Hire cycles and our cycleway routes, and walking options for journeys in zone one.

Uxbridge Library proposals

From Ickenham Residents.

the council has deferred taking the Uxbridge library move proposal to cabinet to allow for a period of public engagement. This consists of email feedback to: librarycontact@hillingdon.gov.uk i.e. we have a chance to register objections, or it will be assumed we have none. The more emails the council receives will make the residents position clearer. So can I ask you to share this with all those that are likely to take an interest in Uxbridge library?

The council project leader for the library has said he is not aware of any other mechanism such as a public consultation. So. to register an opinion, an email needs to be sent to the above address. This should include reasons, which the council can consider. I’m suggesting emails go to both the library contact and to your local ward councillor, because at the full council meeting voting on the library was split along party lines, with the  Conservatives for the proposed move and Labour against. Our councillors’ emails are available at https://modgov.hillingdon.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx?XXR=0&AC=WARD&WID=13412& search on ickenham and South Harefield ward The council officer leading this project and has made it clear that the information they have provided is all they have at the moment. So there is no proposed home for the history and archive section. This information from the contractors plan be found at: https://www.hillingdon.gov.uk/uxbridge-library-relocation Our assumption is that emails need to be in by the end of December for them to be assessed, a report written and for this to be digested by the councillors, prior to cabinet.

Moorhall Road Closure 3rd Jan

from HS2

What we are doing

The Colne Valley Viaduct crossed Moorhall Road in August this year. We now need to install some safety railing on either side of the viaduct. To ensure this work is done safely we will need to close Moorhall Road at the location of the viaduct, between the River Garden Public House and the junction with Link Way and Savay Lane. Access will be maintained for residents. The public footpath will remain open with some minor diversions.

The closure is early in the morning of Wednesday 3 January 2024 between 1am and 5am.
