The Greenway works
Got an allotment or live in the Greenway. Did you get this letter from Thames Water?
Thank you
Dear Resident,
We have completed the sewer diversion
Thank you for your patience and understanding while we carried out the diversion to our sewer to enable HS2’s construction.
We can confirm the diversion has been completed and we have now left the area. The haul road has been removed and the land has been reinstated with new trees and shrubs being planted. The reinstatement of the Ickenham Green Allotments has also been completed.
We will be returning to the area to water the grass on The Green and the saplings in the surrounding area on a regular basis. Barhale will be responsible to look after the area for 12 months and then Thames Water will take over for the next two years. After this time the land will be handed back to London Borough of Hillingdon.
Thank you again.
Kind Regards
Laura Edwards

Greenway/High Road works
The Greenway – Sewer Decommissioning 13/05 to 17/05
Barhale working on behalf of Thames Water are returning to The Greenway for the final time to complete the decommissioning of the Sewer by filling it with concrete. The works will take place between Saturday 13/05 and Wednesday 17/05 and the Traffic Management will entail narrowing the width of the carriageway around the working area outside House Number 43 with Give Way Signage in place, but traffic flow will be maintained throughout the works.
Thames Water update
We are sorry for the delay in completing our work in the manhole on The Greenway. Our final piece of work outside no 43 will now start on Saturday 13 May, when we will put traffic management in place. The vehicle carrying concrete will again need to reverse up part of the road and will have two banksmen directing it at all times, it will give way to other vehicles. We will also be using a pump and be pouring more concrete into the manhole, the same as we did in March.
On Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 May, we will be carrying out the reinstatement of the area. We will be onsite between Saturday 13 May to Wednesday 17 May
Working hours Saturday 8am – 1pm Monday to Wednesday, 8am to 5.30pm
The road will remain open at all times, but as before it will be reduced to one lane for a short distance– give way signs will be in place. On road parking will be restricted in the immediate area but residents will be able to access their driveways at all times.
Footpaths on both sides of the road will remain open.
We will complete our work on Wednesday 17 May.
Greenway Sewer – Bellmouth Removal
Barhale working on behalf of Thames Water built a Bellmouth entrance off Ickenham Road by the Soldiers Return Pub in Dec 2021 to facilitate the Greenway Sewer works.
Barhale have now submitted a Permit to LBH to remove the Bellmouth between 24/04 & 12/05. LBH have approved the Permit, and the works are ongoing and should be complete by 12/05.
During the reinstatement of the area back to what was previously in place prior to these works, a Planter that was in place on the Footway will now be replaced by a Tree (at the request of the LBH Green Spaces Team). The remaining Kerb Line will be reinstated as previous, with new paving and tarmac also being installed.
The Traffic Management in place during these works is a Partial Footway Closure & Narrowing of the Lanes of both sides of the carriageway around the working area, but 3.5 metre width is being maintained in both Lanes so there is not expected to be any impact to traffic flow in this area.

Orthopaedic surgery moving to Park Royal
From Hillingdon hospitals NHS Foundation trust
The proposal to bring together most routine inpatient orthopaedic surgery in north-west London in a new centre of excellence at Central Middlesex Hospital was approved today (Tuesday 21 March) by NHS North West London, the sector’s integrated care board.
The proposal incorporates feedback from a 13-week public consultation that closed earlier this year involving almost 2,000 people.
The North-West London Acute Provider Collaborative, made up of the sector’s four acute NHS trusts, developed the proposal to improve quality and reduce long waiting times, primarily for hip and knee replacements.
As well as feedback from the public consultation, the proposal reflects feedback and guidance from the London Clinical Senate, the North-West London Joint Health Overview and Scrutiny Committee and the Mayor of London (who commissioned the Nuffield Trust to assess the proposal against his six tests for major NHS service change). The proposal is set out in a ‘decision making business case’ that has been published on the Collaborative website, www.nwl-acute-provider-collaborative.nhs.uk/publications. see https://thh.nhs.uk/news-events/centre-of-excellence-for-inpatient-orthopaedic-surgery-in-nwl-gets-the-goahead-705 for the full report
HS2 adding ANPR cameras
HS2 will be installing ANPR cameras in Ickenham, Harefield and Ruislip late March and early April.
We should be getting a list of all the locations.
They will be signed as HS2 cameras but there is some nervousness that they will be seen as ULEZ. which they are not.
The reason for the cameras is that HS2 want to ensure the HGVs are not using unauthorised routes.
They commit that no records will be kept of any vehicles other than HS2.
