The Ultra Low Emission Zone is coming

Here are some extracts from TfL’s ULEZ pages:

To help improve air quality, an Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) will be in place in central London from 8 April 2019. Most vehicles including cars and vans will need to meet new, tighter exhaust emission standards (ULEZ standards) or pay a daily charge to travel within the area of the ULEZ.

Charges for cars (if ULEZ standards NOT met):

Daily charge – ULEZ (Low): £12.50
Penalty charge: £160 (reduced to £80 if paid within 14 days)

From 25 October 2021, the ULEZ area will be expanded to include the inner London area bounded by the North and South Circular Roads.

Check your own car’s liability

Worth noting that the North and South Circular Roads are themselves outside the zone.

Breakspear Road South lane closure Jan 7-16

HS2 in Hillingdon reports:

Work is required to complete the diversion of an Affinity water main. The nature of the work means that it can only be carried out under a northbound lane closure of Breakspear Road South.

The work will start on Monday 7 January and will last until Wednesday 16 January and will be working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Traffic management with temporary traffic lights will be put into place to allow traffic to continue to use the road during this time. Further information can be found here.

More Breakspear Road South closures

Following recent meetings with HS2, we have been advised that HS2 contractors will need to close the northbound lane in Breakspear Road South for a 30-metre stretch north of the Chiltern line bridge. This is planned to last nine days – Jan 7 to 16th. This will be followed by an eight-week complete closure commencing last week of February. These dates are to be confirmed.
