| FROM HS2 We’re writing to let you know about some planned works that we will be carrying out in your area. HS2 Works Notification: River Pinn conveyor bridge removal – 16 to 17 August 2025 We previously informed you about the removal of conveyor bridges within our site at the West Ruislip Portal, following the completion of tunnelling in the area. From 16 to 17 August 2025, between 10pm and 5am, we will remove the conveyor bridge over the river Pinn, located between the Chiltern railway and the HS2 bridge. We will dismantle the bridge sections before lifting them out with a crane. For safety, we need to complete this work overnight while no trains are running, due to the proximity to the Chiltern railway. |

Upcoming HS2 activities (from yesterday)
| Ongoing Lane Closure to build temporary access – Breakspear Road South – Fri 25/07 at 5am until Mon 28/07 at 5am HS2/SCS have requested a Lane Closure managed with 3-Way Traffic Lights (plus pedestrian crossings) within their normal Haul Road Traffic Lights setup on Breakspear Road South from Fri 25/07 at 5am until Mon 28/07 at 5am. In theory the Lane Closure would require an additional Phase to be added to the current Traffic Management setup (which is the long-term Haul Road Crossing plus Pedestrian Phase in place since 2021). The Traffic Management setup for the works Fri 25/07 at 5am until Mon 28/07 at 5am is as follows Traffic Head – Northbound Traffic Head – Southbound Traffic Head – HS2 Haul Road (on demand) Pedestrian Crossings (on demand) The works are to install a temporary Bellmouth Access and a new Gate between the new HS2 Bridge and the Chiltern Line Bridge next to the Southbound carriageway, which will be used to assist removing the Conveyor System, install Drainage and Landscaping on the Embankment next to the Chiltern Line. The Bellmouth Access once installed and operational will be in place until around Sept 2026 with a maximum of 10-15 vehicles using this Access per day. Once operational there will be a re-phase of the Traffic Management in this location with an additional Traffic Head added to the Bellmouth to allow safe exit onto the Highway (further details on this new setup are detailed elsewhere in this update). · Ongoing Construction of Flood Compensation Area next to Breakspear Road South – 25/07/25 to 31/03/26 HS2/SCS will be constructing the permanent Flood Compensation Area (FCA) in 2 fields on the eastern side of Breakspear Road South, either side of the current footpath diversion. There will also be installation of permanent fencing around the FCA and the U43 footpath. These works will include: removal of the top layer of the soil construction of permanent drainage placement of subsoil and topsoil, which will be delivered to site by lorries seeding and landscaping installation of permanent fencing around the FCA and U43 footpath These works will be carried out during Core Working Hours (Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm & Sat 8am to 1pm). Please note that the removal of the wooden hoarding along the FCA and replacement with permanent CLD Fencing will take place between 04/08/25 and 28/11/25. Access to the public footpath will always be maintained and traffic marshals will be stationed at crossing points to ensure safe access. Piling and Drainage Installation works for Noise Barrier in West Ruislip Embankment area – 28/07/25 to 27/03/26 From 28/07/25 to 27/03/26 HS2/SCS will be carrying out works for the construction of the Noise Barriers along the HS2 route between the Copthall Tunnel and West Ruislip Portal. These works will be happening during Core Hours only (Mon to Fri 8am to 6pm & Sat 8am to 1pm). HS2/SCS will start by installing Concrete Piles to stabilise the ground, followed by the installation of Drainage Systems. What to expect – During the works there will be large construction equipment and machinery on site, including heavy goods vehicles, piling and excavating machinery, cranes, lighting towers and concrete equipment. As work progresses, you may also see rectangular grey noise barrier panels of various sizes being moved around the works area and installed around the Bridges. Piling Method – The Noise Barrier works will be delivered using Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) techniques to carry out the Piling. CFA Piling is when a continuous auger (a hollow stem) is drilled into the ground to the required depth. Once the required depth is achieved, Concrete is installed via the Piling Rig and through the hollow stem auger. The auger is then slowly withdrawn, and reinforced steel cages are instantly installed. This method is expected to have minimal noise disruption. · New Breakspear Road South Traffic Management Setup – 28/07/25 to 31/12/26 From Mon 28/07/25 there will be an adjustment to the Traffic Management Setup between the Chiltern Line Bridge and HS2 Sites. The current 2-Way Traffic Light Setup had been in place since 2021 but changes to the HS2 Haul Road mean that the Traffic Management will be adjusted moving forward. An overview is below: Previously there were 2-Way Traffic Lights to allow traffic flow North & South on the main carriageway or traffic flow East to West across the HS2 Haul Road With the permanent Attenuation Pond being constructed where the Western entrance to the Haul Road Crossing was, this side of the Haul Road is now closed to traffic There remains a Traffic Head on the Eastern side of the Haul Road Crossing for HS2 traffic exiting from Site onto Breakspear Road South There will be an additional Traffic Head situated at the new Bellmouth Access on the southern carriageway near the new HS2 Overbridge The new 3-Way Traffic Management Setup will run from 28/07/25 as follows: Phase 1 = Traffic flowing North & South on the main carriageway on Breakspear Road South Phase 2 = HS2 Traffic exiting the Eastern side of the Haul Road Crossing from Site onto Breakspear Road South Phase 3 – HS2 Traffic exiting the new Bellmouth Access on the southern carriageway near the new HS2 Overbridge and onto Breakspear Road South There will also be the Pedestrian Crossing points at the same locations as previous. · CONFIRMED DATES & DIVERSION ROUTE Harvil Road Resurfacing – Full Road Closure – Mon 11/08 to Fri 29/08 The long awaited LBH resurfacing of Harvil Road between the junction with Swakeleys Road and HS2 Gate 1 Site has now been confirmed to take place from Mon 11/08 until Fri 29/08. This will be a Full Road Closure in place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in order to get this large area of road completely resurfaced. LBH will also be undertaking essential preparatory works, including localised kerb repairs, ditch cleaning, and drainage improvements. These works are now scheduled to be delivered across 19 days which will be a big reduction on the initially quoted 4 week Full Road Closure. Resurfacing Works are scheduled to start at the Swakeleys Road end of the Road Closure and work towards HS2 Gate 1 Site as they progress Access to residents will be maintained for the properties on Harvil road, however the access and egress points will change as the resurfacing of the carriageway progresses Emergency Service Vehicles will be assisted when ‘Blue lighting’ through the works extents. If a situation arises whereas it is deemed unsafe to travel through the works Traffic Marshals will assist in ensuring the most direct appropriate route is set out. Variable Message Signs (VMS) will be installed w/c 28/07 in locations near to the works to pre-warn of the upcoming Road Closure dates There may be instances where the residents will have to wait for a short period of time to ensure the safety of both members of the public and operatives is maintained LBH aim to ensure that there are sufficient Traffic Marshals to communicate clearly and also direct vehicles safely through the works extents It has been confirmed by TfL that the U9 Bus Route will run on Diversion during the Road Closure. The confirmed Diversion Route is via Moorhall Road, Moorfield Road, A412, Denham Roundabout, A40, Swakeleys Roundabout, Swakeleys Road Breakspear Road South Road Closure – Fri 03/10 at 8pm until Sun 05/10 at 8pm HS2/SCS have agreed with LBH that Breakspear Road South will be closed at the Chiltern Railway Bridge from Fri 03/10 at 8pm until Sun 05/10 at 8pm while the Conveyor Bridge that oversails the Highway is removed |
Conservation area issues
Just so that you are aware:
1) 47 Swakeleys rd – new food outlet
We opposed the installation of an internally illuminated sign on ALL 3 applications for this site but the planning department passed it anyway!
2) large sign on building behind pond – we have raised an enforcement query via LBH website
Breakspear Road South closures (Part 2 of 2)
HS2/SCS has agreed with LBH that Breakspear Road South will be closed at the Chiltern Railway Bridge from Fri 03/10 at 8pm until Sun 05/10 at 8pm while the Conveyor Bridge that oversails the Highway is removed
The Conveyor Bridge carries the Conveyor system that was used to transport the TBM Spoil/Material over Breakspear Road South towards the Treatment Area at Harvil Road Gate 1. Now that both TBMs have completed their tunnelling between West Ruislip and Greenpark Way in LB Ealing the Conveyors are being removed and the Bridges that carry the Conveyor can also be removed.
These works will involve laying Matting on the road surface to protect it, then using a Crane to lower the Bridge to ground level before dismantling and removing it. The road would then be cleared with the Matting removed before reopening to the public.
These works had been scheduled for the last weekend of the school summer holidays in August but has been rescheduled at the request of HS2/SCS.

Update on borehole in West Ruislip station car park
We’re writing to update you about borehole works in West Ruislip Station car park.
HS2 Works Notification: Update on borehole works in West Ruislip Station car park 20 July to 25 July 2025
We wrote to you earlier in June 2025 about works to drill a borehole in West Ruislip Station carpark from 25 June to 3 July.
We need to carry out a visual survey using handheld equipment. We will then drill a borehole in the ground. Once the borehole is complete, we will install a secure cover. The borehole will be located in between parking spaces so we can routinely access it to take readings.
These works are now expected to take place from 20 July to 25 July.
During this work, we will suspend seven parking bays in the West Ruislip Station car park.
