Want to share your Ickenham pix?

We received a pic from South Swakeleys Neighbourhood Watch of its Queen’s birthday celebration. This made us wonder whether to share it and your own pix here. With the Festival Week closely following the Royal celebration, June seems like a perfect month to try the idea out. Here’s the SSNW pic:

South Swakeleys Neighbourhood Watch Queen's birthday celebration

Thanks to Diana May for this one.

We welcome good quality pix, ideally 500px wide. (It keeps the mail attachment reasonably small.) We won’t accept anything overtly commercial (but a collection of people seated outside, say, Maison du Soleil would be okay). As long as there’s a community-interest aspect to it.

You obviously need to own the rights to any image used and give us permission to use them.

Start rummaging and snapping. For simplicity, send them to ickpic@tebbo.com

We look forward to hearing from you!

Gala Day: come and say “hello”

This Saturday (18th) is Gala Day in the Vyners School grounds, from 1pm to 5pm. It’s always a lot of fun with interesting stands, demonstrations and funfair attractions. It also gives you a great chance to mingle with your fellow villagers (and, no doubt, outsiders too).

If you get a moment, why not drop by the Ickenham Residents’ Association stand? We’d be delighted to meet you, answer your questions and hear your views on what we should and shouldn’t be doing.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.

Queen’s birthday – road closures

The 12th June will see (some) Ickenham residents out in force to celebrate Her Majesty’s birthday with street parties. Please avoid these areas at these times (unless you’ve been invited):

Road From To Which bit?
Ivy House Rd. 11:00 21:00 9 to 59
Austins Lane 14:00 19:00 Church Place to junction with St Giles Ave.
Rectory Way 11:00 20:00 16/26 to dead end
Almond Ave. 10:00 23:00 Whole road

Thank you.

Result! (Ickenham plan)

Much more to come, no doubt, from Ickenham Plan but about 100 people attended the debut meeting today at the Village Hall. At the end they decided that it would be a good idea to create a Neighbourhood Plan to help preserve and improve Ickenham as a wonderful place to live.

Well done Ickenham Residents’ Association Committee member, Chris Mountain, for his hard work today, at the festive evening and on many occasions in between to start the ball rolling.

The intention is for the Neighbourhood Plan to have its own organisers, independent of the Ickenham Residents’ Association, although some Committee members might want to join in as private individuals. The truth is that the Committee has plenty on its plate already and might not be able to give the new plan the attention it clearly deserves.

Wanted: people who love Ickenham

NP Poster
The meeting is about a neighbourhood plan for Ickenham – to discuss the comments that have already been received by the Residents’ Association on the subject and to decide whether to formally apply to the Council (LBH) for permission to start the process.

More information about the Ickenham Village Meeting can be found on the Ickenham Plan website

Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you’d like more information.
