Swakeleys House open Saturday

As part of the London Open House weekend, Swakeleys House will be open to the public (no charge) on Saturday 17th September 10:00 to 16:00.

It gives Ickenham residents the opportunity to publicly show their interest in this building. Please go if you can. Groups of up to 15 at a time will be admitted every 20 to 30 minutes.

Tell your friends and neighbours, we need to demonstrate our continuing interest in this historic and iconic building to its owners.

Thank you.

A couple of new ‘useful links’

While trying to find a decent pic of Ickenham Village Hall for our Twitter account and the header of this site, I found myself in contact with the Swakeleys Home Guard (1944) Association. Its members meet at the back of the Village Hall. I’ve added them to the Useful Links page, along with a lively Facebook group we mentioned recently called ‘Ickenham… it’s just the best village’.

Gala Day: come and say “hello”

This Saturday (18th) is Gala Day in the Vyners School grounds, from 1pm to 5pm. It’s always a lot of fun with interesting stands, demonstrations and funfair attractions. It also gives you a great chance to mingle with your fellow villagers (and, no doubt, outsiders too).

If you get a moment, why not drop by the Ickenham Residents’ Association stand? We’d be delighted to meet you, answer your questions and hear your views on what we should and shouldn’t be doing.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturday.
