HS2 update

From Ickenham Residents. 1      New Thames Water Tankering Operation on Harvil Road – ongoing at present
 
There are Emergency Works relating to a burst Thames Water Main on Uxbridge Golf Course that is requiring Tankering Operations on Harvil Road that are expected to continue for the next week or so.
 
There are currently 2-Way Traffic Lights on Harvil Road between Harvil Farm and Skip Lane to facilitate the Tankers, so they can park and fill up as required. This is an ongoing 24/7 operation and Thames Water are working to expedite the repairs as soon as possible.
2           New PROW U43 Permanent Fence Installation – 23/03 to 29/05
 
HS2/SCS are beginning works to remove the existing wooden hoarding and replace with permanent CLD Fencing along PROW U43 where the Flood Compensation Area (FCA) is located off Breakspear Road South.
 
These works were due to start from w/c 23/03 and be completed by 29/05.
 
The works will be completed by removing one piece of hoarding, then installing CLD Fencing in its place. The PROW will remain open, and Marshalls will be present to ensure works stop to allow pedestrians past safely.  
 
The PROW will remain open at all times.
 
I have provided a Map below which shows the area where the new CLD Fencing will be installed (in Yellow Line):


3     Upcoming Network Rail Night Works between West Ruislip & Harvil Road – Sat 28/03 at 12.30am to Mon 30/03 at 5am
 
There were several Noise Complaints received from residents towards the end of last week and over the weekend of 14/03 & 15/03 relating to very noisy works that could be heard coming from the West Ruislip area.
 
The reported noise has been attributed to Network Rail, who have now confirmed they had been carrying out significant track renewal, working at night removing, replacing, and tamping the track between West Ruislip and Harvil Road.
 
Network Rail have now communicated details of the upcoming night works below to complete these works:
  Sat 28/03 at 12.30am to Mon 30/03 at 5am  
IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY NETWORK RAIL THAT THESE WORKS WILL ALSO BE VERY NOISY SO THIS IS A NOTIFICATION TO NEARBY RESIDENTS TO MAKE YOU AWARE OF WHERE THE SOURCE OF THE NOISE WILL BE COMING FROM.

4    Upcoming Road Closure of Breakspear Road South (Service Road) for Affinity Water Main Replacement – Phase 1 = 30/03 to 27/05 / Phase 2 = 16/06 to 24/07
  Notice issued by LBH Highways incorrectly stated Road Closure of Breakspear Road South main carriageway Confirmation received from LBH Highways that only the Service Road will be closed (rather than main carriageway) in the following 2 Phases:   Phase 1 = 30/03/26 to 27/05/26 (8am to 5pm daily) – Breakspear Road South Service Road – House Number 64 to 114 Copthall Road West (note – junction of Copthall Road West & Breakspear Road South is CLOSED during Phase 1 works) Phase 2 = 16/06/26 to 24/07/26 (8am to 5pm daily) – Breakspear Road South Service Road – House Number 2 to 42 (note – junction of Greenacres Avenue & Breakspear Road South Service Road is CLOSED during Phase 2 works)  
Phase 1 = Service Road Closure 30/03/26 to 27/05/26 (8am to 5pm daily)     
 Phase 2 = Service Road Closure 16/06/26 to 24/07/26 (8am to 5pm daily)

We’re writing to let you know about some planned works that we will be carrying out in your area.
HS2 Works Notification: Noise barrier installation at West Ruislip – 27 March to 31 December 2026 
 
We previously informed you of our piling and drainage work within the noise barrier sites. We have now finished piling, while the installation of drainage systems is ongoing. 
 
From April 2026, we will begin to install the concrete noise barrier panels from Copthall Tunnel to West Ruislip Portal. There may be periods of noise from construction machinery while we carry out this work. We apologise for any disruption this may cause.

HS2 Works Notification Update: Flood compensation area works at Breakspear Road South – 1 April to 23 December 2026 
 
We previously informed you that the flood compensation area works would take place from July 2025 to March 2026. However, most activities were paused during the winter period. We are now able to continue and expect the works to run until December 2026.
 
We will be carrying out the following activities:  Removal of the top layer of the soil  Construction of permanent drainage Placement of subsoil and topsoil  Seeding and landscaping  Installation of permanent fencing around the area and U46 footpath  For further details about these works, please follow this link.

HS2 night time noise

ADVANCE NOTICE OF New Network Rail Night Works between West Ruislip & Harvil Road – Sat 28/03 at 12.30am to Mon 30/03 at 5am

I have received confirmation that there is an incident happening with a Thames Water Sewer on the Uxbridge Golf Course that is requiring Tankers to remove sewage via Harvil Road.

At present there are Emergency 2-Way Traffic Lights on Harvil Road to facilitate this, in place between Harvil Farm and HS2 Gate 1 (2 lots of works shown on One Network but LBH Streetworks tell me that contained within 1 set of Traffic Management):

Swakeleys Road restriction

Affinity Water is repairing a burst water main on Swakeleys Road (near to the junction with Breakspear Road South) under 3-Way Traffic Lights
These are emergency works and would not have been allowed on the Network at the same time as the HS2 Road Closure of Breakspear Road South if they were not an Emergency.   we have been advised that these works are expected to be completed within 48 hours so the Traffic Lights should be removed before Friday morning.  
LBH says “can only apologise for any delays experienced but would reiterate that these are outside of our control.”

This week’s BRS closure extended

We have been notified of a a delay to the Road Closure currently in place on Breakspear Road South that will require a 48 hour extension to the works. This will mean that the Road Closure will now be in place until Friday 20/02 at 7pm (it was due to be completed by Wed 18/02 at 7pm).

The reasons for the delay are shown below (please note this information has been updated on the LBH Website and will be communicated to residents by HS2 asap).
Breakspear Road South – 24/7 Road Closure over 5 Days – Sat 14/02 at 7am until Fri 20//02 at 7pm

HS2/SCS have agreed a Road Closure of Breakspear Road South that will take place 24 Hours a Day over a 7 Day Period from Sat 14/02 at 7am until Fri 20//02 at 7pm.
Update 17/02 – HS2/SCS are advising that the Trial Hole element of these works will not be completed in time for the originally planned reopening of the road on Wed 18/02 at 7pm and requested a further 48 hours on the Road Closure to complete the works (now reopening Fri 20/02 at 7pm).
The reasons behind the delay are detailed as being in part the ongoing wet weather conditions slowing things down, and the depth of the Sewer Connection that they have found to be at 3.3 metres. This was deeper than expected and thus required more time to locate in the footway and now HS2/SCS have to dig a trench across the width of the carriageway at this depth to make sure there are no unknown Services in the way for when the Sewer Connection is carried out.
These works have been scheduled to take place during the Feb 2026 School Half-Term to cause as little disruption as possible but we are aware there is never a good time to close this road.
Previously LBH had been informed by HS2 that all Road Closures on Breakspear Road South would be completed in 2025 but the following works are now required and unfortunately due to the methodology of the works they will require Full Road Closures to complete them:

• Rip-Rap Works – to install permanent paving and bollards to make safe the run-off area around a Drainage Swale
• To carry out a Trial Hole across the whole carriageway for a Sewer Connection that was previously removed during HS2 Enabling Works (this is a new instruction from HS2 not previously known about by SCS or LBH)

Please note – once the Trial Hole data is received, HS2/SCS will need to complete the Sewer Connection which will require a further Road Closure that they would look to request for the May School Half-Term or the School Summer Holidays.

BRS closure Feb 14-17

BRS closure still planned for 14th February to 17th February (during school holidays).  Works to reduce the drop from road to gullies that run by the road and thereby improve safety. 
 
We have now learnt a further BRS closure will be required to put back sewer.  This may happen in may school holidays.

  HS2 Works Notification: Update: 24/7 working to remove water treatment plant at West Ruislip Portal, Hillingdon – extended to 28 Febuary 2026   The water treatment plant removal works are now ongoing until 28 February 2026. Works have been extended to accommodate access for other works. These works will be 24/7 due to site constraints and the safety of the workforce. There will be lorry movements to remove the equipment during the day only.    You may notice crane movements to lift the equipment for the water treatment plant and disassembly. Due to constraints on site some crane lifting may happen overnight. You may notice lights on site during nights, but we will position lights to avoid shining directly onto nearby properties. You may also hear white noise alarms during the day to ensure safety on site during the transportation of equipment. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We will use drone footage of both SCS and Align sites to show how construction is progressing.
