Changes to congestion charge hours

From Monday 21 February, the central London Congestion Charge hours are being reduced and will operate Monday to Friday, 7:00-18:00 and Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, 12:00-18:00.

• The daily Congestion Charge is £15 if you pay in advance or on the same day, or £17.50 by midnight of the third charging day after you travel
• For example, if you drive on Saturday, you have until midnight on Tuesday to pay £17.50 and if you drive on Sunday, you have until midnight on Wednesday
• To pay the Congestion Charge you will be able to pay online or sign up to Auto Pay for a £10 annual registration fee per vehicle, so you never forget to pay
• Auto Pay is the most convenient way to pay the charge. If you are registered with Auto Pay, we will automatically check whether your vehicle needs to pay the Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge and if you drive, we will automatically charge you via your Auto Pay service. This means you will not have to remember to pay the charge(s) and will not run the risk of receiving Penalty Charge Notice(s) for your registered vehicles

Some NHS patients may be eligible to claim Congestion Charge reimbursements from their participating, treating hospital. You may also be eligible for a Congestion Charge reimbursement if you are:

• An NHS Trust, local authority, or charity, in a role responding to the current Covid-19 pandemic and future pandemic/epidemics in Greater London
• A care home employee working in the Congestion Charge zone

The changes to the central London Congestion Charge hours are to help reduce congestion during the day. You can avoid paying the charge by walking, cycling, or using public transport.

We regularly clean our services using hospital-grade antiviral disinfectant. Please remember, you must wear a face covering over your nose and mouth when travelling on all TfL services, unless you are exempt.

Memorial Service for Trevor Jaggar, founding headmaster of Vyners School

We would like to inform you that a Memorial Service for Trevor Jaggar, founding headmaster of Vyners School and resident in Ickenham for 50 years prior to his death in late September 2020, will be held at Jordans Quaker Meeting House, Buckinghamshire (https://www.visitbuckinghamshire.org/attraction/jordans-quaker-meeting-house) from around 11am on Friday May 6th 2022. After the Quaker Meeting of around 60 minutes, there will be an interment of the ashes in the Burial Ground and lunch will be provided for attendees. It is anticipated that the event may last for up to 4hrs.

HS2 West Ruislip works update

What we are doing
We notified you recently that we would be carrying out excavation works overnight and continuous concrete pours at our West Ruislip site over the weekend from 8 November 2021 to 13 February 2022. However, these works have now been rescheduled and will start on 21 February 2022 to prepare the base of the railway tunnels near West Ruislip station.

We will be excavating to prepare the area for the launch of the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and the creation of the portal area.

The earth excavated from this area will be stored temporarily at the golf course driving range. The stockpiled earth will then be used to landscape the area around the tunnels and the tunnel entrances once the construction works have been completed. In the TBM storage area we will be building a tent to minimise noise from the initial welding works required for the construction of the cutter head.
There will be one further occasion where fifty hours of continuous cement pour is required. This will be used to build the two base slabs for the portal structure and has to be continuous so that there is no adverse effect on the structural integrity of the building.

Programme:
From 21 February to 31 March 2022 – Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and 6pm-4am – Excavation of area and placement on temporary storage area

Weekend of 11, 12 and 13 March 2022 – 50 hours continuous from 6pm on a Friday to 8pm on the Sunday – Continuous cement pour

Work mitigation
We will:
• Continue to monitor sound levels both inside and outside our site compound
• Carry out attended monitoring for the first two weeks to ensure noise and vibration levels are within our required limits
• Carry out steel fixing works only at the very bottom of the excavation, 11 meters below ground level
• Use acoustic covers and blankets where possible
• Limit cutting and welding to daytime hours (8am to 6pm)
• Use dust mist cannons around the working areas
• Face lighting away from residential properties.

We would like to apologise in advance for the disruption or inconvenience this may cause. Every effort is being taken to ensure that these works are carried out in the least impactful way. We will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.

HS2 concrete pour update

Continuous concrete pour postponed:
We wrote you recently to let you know that there would be two separate occasions where fifty hours of continuous concrete pour was required, as part of the installation of the base of the railway tunnels.

The first weekend for these works (29 to 30 January 2022) has now been rescheduled and will start from 8pm on Friday 4  and finish on Saturday 5 February 2022 at 8pm.

The second weekend of 11 to 13 of February 2022 will remain in place.  We will notify you if this changes and we will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.
