Ickenham Road and High Road works 6 to 20 July 2021

From HS2

Work item details

What we are doing
From 6 to 20 July 2021, we will be carrying out ground investigation along Ickenham Road and High Road near the West Ruislip train station, in the area shown on the map link below. This will help to inform our design decisions in the area. The ground investigation will involve the use of scanning equipment to identify utilities in the area. We will be excavating trial holes to take measurements and ground samples.

How the surveys might affect you
Due to the location of the utility surveys, footpath diversion will be in place and the cycle path will be closed for the duration of these activities. This is to ensure that the surveys can be carried out safely.
There will be no disruption to your utility services.

HS2 works at Harvil Road and Breakspear Road South, 21 June to 31 July

From HS2

We wrote you in April to advise you that we would be carrying out bored piling works at Breakspear Road South to facilitate the construction of overbridges at these locations. From Monday 21st of June, we will start the next phase of these works which will continue until the end of July.

We do not expect there to be any noise and vibration or disturbance to nearby residents. Monitoring will be in place throughout these works.

Breakspear Road South closure

from HS2

We have been informed that the London Borough of Hillingdon will have a full road closure at Breakspear Road South on Monday 14 June 2021, for one week to carry out resurfacing works from the south of the Chiltern Line bridge to Swakeleys junction.

As a result of these works, the SCS site team at Breakspear Road South have cancelled their works planned for next week. (Notice of works for the U46 footpath road crossing HS2-EW-SCS-Ph1-Ar-So-S1-Traf-33-14/06/2021)

Newyears Green Lane & West Ruislip works

from HS2

Newyears Green Lane
We wrote to you recently to advise you that we would be carrying out ecological surveys on 17 May and 1 June along Newyears Green Lane. Due to poor weather conditions, we were unable to complete the surveys. We therefore require additional time to complete these works, which will now be completed on 1 and 14 June 2021. A road closure will be required between 8pm and 5am to ensure these works can be carried out safely.

West Ruislip
We will be carrying out works over one weekend (19 & 20 June 2021) in the bell mouth where vehicles access the site from Ickenham High Road. We are connecting a foul sewer from site to a chamber that sits underneath the centre of the junction.

Once connected the trench will be backfilled and the work area reinstated. We will carry out the main cut into the concrete within normal working hours on the Friday 18 June, to minimise noise on the weekend

Duration of works
The weekend of 19 and 20 June 2021
From 8am to 6pm

What to expect
An excavator and dumper trucks will be required to create the trench for the sewer

What we will do
Maintain access along the footpath and carriageway of Ickenham High Road

Master Brewer: update (fingers crossed)

We welcome Hillingdon Council’s 10 May announcement that it has sought a Judicial Review of the Mayor of London’s decision to grant permission for the most recent Master Brewer planning application.

We have repeatedly raised concerns about the way the Mayor has considered London Plan tall buildings policies, so we are pleased to see that this issue forms part of Hillingdon Council’s case.

As we set out earlier this year, the Mayor’s decision to grant permission was enormously disappointing for local community groups, who had invested time and effort in creating a community masterplan to show the sort of development that would be appropriate for the vacant site.

A Judicial Review is a type of court proceeding that considers the way in which a decision has been made, rather than the rights and wrongs of the conclusion reached.  Over the next few weeks, a Judge will decide whether the case should be heard. If the case is heard and the Judge agrees with Hillingdon Council’s arguments, the Mayor could be ordered to reconsider the application.
