FROM HS2 In order to construct the railway, we need to supply electricity to our compounds and work sites. SSEN will be working in your area to upgrade the local electricity network so these supplies can be provided. Starting on 21 March SSEN will begin works to install a high voltage underground cable as part of planned upgrade works along Copthall Road West. We expect these works to last for six weeks. Works will require excavation of trenches along the roadside and work will be done sequentially to reduce the impact on nearby properties. Any Public Rights of Way will be maintained wherever possible. While works are taking place access will be managed by on site staff with signage and traffic marshalling for pedestrians. We do not anticipate any interruption to your electricity supply. Further works will be required in Breakspear Road to complete these upgrades. We will write to residents with further information in due course. Advance warning signage will be put in place prior to the works taking place. Please note works are subject to change and may change due to the impact of the weather or programme changes. HS2 and SSEN will do all we can to keep you updated regarding changes to access and works progress. Further information on local impacts and access arrangements will be distributed by SSEN when works commence. How may this affect you? We may need to temporarily suspend some parking bays in Copthall Road West and residents may experience some short delays when accessing residential driveways during works hours. This should only be the case when SSEN are working directly in front of a resident’s property. The works will require trenches to be dug along the street. This may mean that a small number of driveways are inaccessible for short periods whilst the team completes the trench-work. SSEN will notify you in advance when they are working in front of your property. The existing cable is in the pavement /footpath and will not necessitate a lane closure. There will be some works in the carriageway to allow lorries to collect excavated material and some noise from these excavations and vehicle movements, but we expect this to be for short periods during the day Duration of works Work will be undertaken from: 21 March 2022 – 2 May 2022 Hours of work Monday – Friday 7.30 am – 17.30pm Saturday 8am – 1pm What to expect Trench excavation and cable laying in roadside verges in Copthall Road West Welfare facilities for workforce Traffic management and temporary access restrictions while we work outside homes What we will do Inform you of any changes to access as soon as possible https://www.hs2.org.uk/work-items/utility-works-in-copthall-road-west-hillingdon/

Weekend closures coming up on Westway
From TfL
From Friday 11 March until June 2022, weekend closures of the A40 Westway will change to affect westbound traffic.
Since November 2021, we have been carrying out essential maintenance with weekend and overnight closures to the eastbound carriageway. The next phase of work sees us switch to the other side of the carriageway and those travelling eastbound will be able to use the A40 Westway as normal.
To minimise disruption, the Westway will be open in both directions during peak times Monday to Friday, but will be limited to two lanes of traffic.
Each westbound closure will take place from 22:00 on Fridays to 05:00 on Mondays most weekends from Friday 11 March until Monday 23 May.
While the closure is in place, we expect local routes and the official diversion route to be busy and long delays to your journey are likely. Please plan ahead and use routes such as the A4 and A41 or use the A406 for alternative ways out of London.
If your destination is in the local area, then we expect local roads to be much busier but shops and businesses will remain open throughout the works. If you are making a short trip, access is likely to be quicker and easier on foot, by cycle or by the Tube.
There will be no works over Easter, on the weekend of Friday 29 April, or during the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in early June. Additional overnight or weekend closures later in June may be required to complete the work.
For the full programme and more detail, please visit our travel advice page.

HS2 concrete pour revision
Due to the inclement weather recently, the contractors are behind schedule and need to reschedule concrete pouring. The good news is that as the concrete mix is coming from skip Lane they can now use their haul road one way from Harvil to west Ruislip The empty hgvs will exit west Ruislip and go back via Ickenham village. Their tunnel boring appears also to be late..now commencing 31 May. They have obviously finalised thir plans for dumping of spoil..they plan an open day on March 7 for residents to show the plans.
Changes to congestion charge hours
From: Road User Charging Team, TFL
From Monday 21 February, the central London Congestion Charge hours are being reduced and will operate Monday to Friday, 7:00-18:00 and Saturdays, Sundays and bank holidays, 12:00-18:00.
• The daily Congestion Charge is £15 if you pay in advance or on the same day, or £17.50 by midnight of the third charging day after you travel
• For example, if you drive on Saturday, you have until midnight on Tuesday to pay £17.50 and if you drive on Sunday, you have until midnight on Wednesday
• To pay the Congestion Charge you will be able to pay online or sign up to Auto Pay for a £10 annual registration fee per vehicle, so you never forget to pay
• Auto Pay is the most convenient way to pay the charge. If you are registered with Auto Pay, we will automatically check whether your vehicle needs to pay the Congestion Charge and Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charge and if you drive, we will automatically charge you via your Auto Pay service. This means you will not have to remember to pay the charge(s) and will not run the risk of receiving Penalty Charge Notice(s) for your registered vehicles
Some NHS patients may be eligible to claim Congestion Charge reimbursements from their participating, treating hospital. You may also be eligible for a Congestion Charge reimbursement if you are:
• An NHS Trust, local authority, or charity, in a role responding to the current Covid-19 pandemic and future pandemic/epidemics in Greater London
• A care home employee working in the Congestion Charge zone
Find out more about our reimbursement schemes and eligibility criteria.
The changes to the central London Congestion Charge hours are to help reduce congestion during the day. You can avoid paying the charge by walking, cycling, or using public transport.
We regularly clean our services using hospital-grade antiviral disinfectant. Please remember, you must wear a face covering over your nose and mouth when travelling on all TfL services, unless you are exempt.

HS2 West Ruislip works update
FROM HS2 What we are doing We notified you recently that we would be carrying out excavation works overnight and continuous concrete pours at our West Ruislip site over the weekend from 8 November 2021 to 13 February 2022. However, these works have now been rescheduled and will start on 21 February 2022 to prepare the base of the railway tunnels near West Ruislip station. We will be excavating to prepare the area for the launch of the Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) and the creation of the portal area. The earth excavated from this area will be stored temporarily at the golf course driving range. The stockpiled earth will then be used to landscape the area around the tunnels and the tunnel entrances once the construction works have been completed. In the TBM storage area we will be building a tent to minimise noise from the initial welding works required for the construction of the cutter head. There will be one further occasion where fifty hours of continuous cement pour is required. This will be used to build the two base slabs for the portal structure and has to be continuous so that there is no adverse effect on the structural integrity of the building. This map shows the area of activity: https://www.hs2.org.uk/work-items/update-on-night-works-at-west-ruislip-3/ Programme: From 21 February to 31 March 2022 – Monday to Friday 8am-6pm and 6pm-4am – Excavation of area and placement on temporary storage area Weekend of 11, 12 and 13 March 2022 – 50 hours continuous from 6pm on a Friday to 8pm on the Sunday – Continuous cement pour Work mitigation We will: • Continue to monitor sound levels both inside and outside our site compound • Carry out attended monitoring for the first two weeks to ensure noise and vibration levels are within our required limits • Carry out steel fixing works only at the very bottom of the excavation, 11 meters below ground level • Use acoustic covers and blankets where possible • Limit cutting and welding to daytime hours (8am to 6pm) • Use dust mist cannons around the working areas • Face lighting away from residential properties. We would like to apologise in advance for the disruption or inconvenience this may cause. Every effort is being taken to ensure that these works are carried out in the least impactful way. We will ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.
