We will be excavating the earth to prepare the area for the launch of the Tunnel Boring Machines and the creation of the portal area. This stockpiled earth will then be used to landscape the area around the tunnels and the tunnel entrances once the construction works have been completed. Continuous cement pour • Two periods of fifty hours continuous pour of concrete is required to build two base slabs for the portal structure. The pour has to be continuous so that there is no loss to the structural integrity of the building. Work mitigation We will: • Continue to monitor sound levels both inside and outside our site compound • Carry out attended monitoring for the first two weeks to ensure noise and vibration levels are within our required limits • Steel fixing works will only be done at the very bottom of the excavation at 11 meters below ground level • Where possible, acoustic covers and blankets will be used • Cutting and welding will only be carried out during the day (8am to 6pm) • Dust mist cannons will surround the working areas • Lighting will face away from residential properties. Breakspear Road South problems
| BRS remains closed for repairs to the bridge but we have received this today from HS2 Just a note to let you know that overnight someone has stolen the traffic management signage for Breakspear Road South and so there is likely to be a large amount of confusion until this can be resolved. None of the metal stands have been taken and so it appears to be either vandalism or an attempt to cause disruption as the signs themselves are of very little value. Despite this being a Network Rail closure, the SCS team will assist if requires to reinstate the signage. |
Get your MP to support an HS2 rethink?
From The Wildlife Trusts:
Many people are concerned about the serious risk HS2 poses to nature. Last year we were extremely disappointed when the Department for Transport confirmed HS2 would go ahead, without any acknowledgement of the devastating impact on our wildlife.
But now we have another chance. Thanks to a petition launched by Chris Packham, Parliament is about to debate whether to rethink HS2. This is a real opportunity, and we want as many MPs as possible to speak up for nature. Will you invite your MP to save the date and stand up for nature? We’ve created a simple form to help you:
HS2 is currently the best example of how NOT to deliver national infrastructure projects, and will leave nature in a worse state for the next generation. At a time when nature has never been more in need of protection and restoration, it is unthinkable that HS2 is destroying whole ecosystems.
Please ask your MP to support the HS2 parliamentary debate and speak up for nature. You can use our simple form to send an email to your MP.
Thank you to the many Ickenham residents who provide ongoing support. Together, we can make a difference for nature.
