Parking in Beck theatre

The Cabinet Member for Community and Environment, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing & Growth has considered the responses to the formal consultation for the proposed introduction of parking charges within The Beck Theatre Car Park, Hayes and has made the following decision:
DECISION That the Cabinet Member for Community and Environment, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for Planning, Housing & Growth: Considered the objections received to the proposed parking charges for The Beck Theatre Car Park, Hayes; and Decided to introduce the parking charges as proposed.
REASONS FOR DECISION The Beck Theatre offers a diverse programme including concerts, drama, comedy, dance, and children’s events. A new 15-year lease with Parkwood Leisure, with an option to extend for 10 more years, aims to preserve the theatre’s cultural identity, ensure financial sustainability without public subsidy, and boost community engagement. As part of the agreement, parking charges will be introduced at the theatre’s car park to align with other council-operated sites, helping offset operational costs. These proposals were agreed by Cabinet in May and became the subject of formal statutory consultation.
ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS CONSIDERED AND REJECTED The Cabinet Member could have determined not to introduce the parking charges.   The Council will now complete the final part of the legal order making process to implement parking charges within this car park.

We will notify you as soon as we know when these charges will be effective
these will be    a maximum parking rate of £2.00 for four hours . Hillingdon residents are proposed to receive a 10% discount on the cost of parking by using the Hillingdon First Card. payment will be by the paybyphone app only

Asylum accommodation and protests

Metropolitan Police Service Statement – Hillingdon
We understand the concerns raised by our communities in Hillingdon regarding asylum accommodation and related protest activity. We want to reassure residents that these issues are being taken seriously and that significant policing resources are committed to keeping people safe and maintaining public order.
Our priorities are clear:
Protect life and prevent harm Investigate crime and bring offenders to justice Support lawful protest while preventing disorder
What we are doing: Preventing offences and tackling criminal behaviour
Our focus remains on preventing harm and addressing criminality—not on commenting on every post or video circulating online. Multiple individuals have already been arrested following recent disorder, and further investigations are ongoing. We record and investigate all reports of crime, and while we cannot comment publicly on the specifics of ongoing investigations, every case is assessed and progressed in line with our established processes. Suggestions that we favour one group over another are incorrect. Our approach is based on evidence and the law, regardless of who is involved.   Supporting lawful protest, preventing disorder
We respect the right to peaceful protest. However, violent or unlawful behaviour will not be tolerated. We have committed significant resources to supporting lawful protest over the last two months and, when faced with criminality, have acted decisively.   Visible reassurance and partnership working
Officers are carrying out regular patrols at hotel sites and in affected areas such as West Drayton and Hayes. We are working closely with Hillingdon Council, Clearsprings, and community leaders to address tensions and investigate offences. We continue to commit additional resources to this challenge.   The ask: Intelligence and information are key Please report offences to us online, via 101 or 999 as appropriate. If you have useful information, please share this with us through the same channels. We collate, analyse, and use all this information to inform policing activity—even if we don’t provide updates on every report. Crimestoppers can always be used if you’re concerned about anonymity.

HS2 hiccup – update

FROM HS2

We informed you last week that we were halting works across the London tunnels sections of the route following a serious near miss incident at our site at Green Park Way. We have now begun a safe restart across some of these worksites following a comprehensive review of safety procedures and leadership.

From Monday, 20 October, we will safely restart: Utilities work in South Hampstead area in Camden; The delivery of tunnel pre-cast concrete segments to the Willesden Euro Terminal in Ealing; and Earthworks in the West Ruislip area in Hillingdon. Additionally, a railway possession led by Network Rail will be carried out in the Old Oak Common area over the weekend to facilitate preparatory works.
Additional measures are being implemented by our contractor, Skanska Costain STRABAG joint venture, to ensure the safety of the workforce.

More sites will restart in due course as we continue to implement additional safety measures which are considered necessary following the review. We will not compromise on safety and sites will only restart once we are satisfied that all appropriate measures are in place to protect the workforce.

We will continue to keep you updated on further safe restarts in your area.
