The main utility works, including the central reservation removal and utility relocation along High Road and Ickenham Road near West Ruislip station have now been rescheduled and will take place in January 2022.
We will notify you with the new date once confirmed.
From URC
There’s plenty going on this coming weekend at the URC! On Friday evening the church will be open from 6pm to 9pm for a festive display on the theme of LIGHT, accompanied by stalls of Christmas goods, small bric-a-brac and quality second-hand books and a bran tub for the children. There will be seasonal refreshments in the Oasis coffee shop, an update on CLICK Rukiga and a raffle with prizes including Sunday lunch for four at the Fairways Carvery and a £25 meat voucher from Ickenham Village Butchers. We will be open again on Saturday morning from 10am to 12 Noon for a Festive Coffee Morning, with the stalls still open and augmented by one of the famous Butterflies book stalls. There are no admission charges at any point so we look forward to seeing you.

Thames Water update
We are working to divert our sewer to make way for the new HS2 railway. Following the London Borough of Hillingdon’s planning approval with planning conditions, we have received sign off of some of the conditions. This means we can plan to build the entrance point of the temporary haul road off High Road, Ickenham.
New road entrance
Subject to approval from the London Borough of Hillingdon, we will carry out work from Monday 13 December until Friday 24 December. This will be to construct a new road entrance off High Road, next to the entrance of The Soldiers Return.
The footpath will remain open for the duration of our works.
The High Road will remain open at all times, but we will need to close half of the northern lane. Traffic management will be in place to keep the traffic flowing.
Future work
We will not be working over the Christmas period and the site will close from 24 December until 4 January 2022.
When we restart our work, we will continue to construct the temporary road from the new access point to the Ickenham Green allotments.

| Breakspear Road South will be closed at the Chiltern Line Bridge from 12.01am Friday 26/11/21 for eight days while Network Rail carries out emergency repairs due to two bridge strikes in the last week. Two HGV lorries (large high-sided lorries) struck the side of the Chiltern Line Bridge, on 18/11/21 and again on 23/11/21. In the photos below, you will see visible damage to the underside of the bridge, including where brickwork has fallen onto the carriageway. Unfortunately there have been an increased amount of reported cases of HGV vehicles striking this bridge, with the Police confirming 15 incidents during this year alone. As a result Hillingdon Officers and Network Rail have worked together to facilitate the closure of the Breakspear Road South after the latest incident. This collaborative working will benefit our residents as we are now aware of the closure in advance (something that did not happen previously), and can communicate and plan for the closure. Officers have engaged with HS2 and its contractors to ensure there are no temporary traffic lights on the adjacent Harvil Road during this closure, and have instructed HS2 to make sure they take full advantage of this closure by bringing forward any planned works on Breakspear Road South while the closure is in place. Officers have requested that a Road Safety Audit is carried out as a matter of urgency (and paid for by HS2) to look at the location of the traffic lights in place on this section of Breakspear Road South. The traffic lights have been installed by HS2 to facilitate the movement of HS2 vehicles exiting the HS2 Site located just to the north of the Bridge, and are planned to be in place until at least 2024. Officers will continue to proactively explore all available options to eradicate these bridge strikes from happening, and will continue to work in collaboration with Network Rail and HS2 and their contractors to ensure the best possible outcomes for our residents should these incidents occur in the future |
