Harvil Road Closure – this weekend

Notice from Costain/Skanska:

Saturday 27 April – Sunday 28 April 2019, Harvil Road closure

The vegetation clearance around Harvil Road on Saturday 27 April and Sunday 28 April requires a road closure on a section of Harvil Road to the areas to the north and south of the current Cadent Gas site on the east of Harvil Road. Ecological surveys have been undertaken and an ecologist will be on site for the duration of the works.

RAF Northolt – please respond – air space usage

This from RAF Northolt:

Royal Air Force Northolt is required to submit an Airspace Change Proposal under the Department for Transport’s Future Airspace Strategy Implementation (South) programme.  All airports in the South East of the United Kingdom are taking part in this programme, which will not be implemented before 2024.

This Airspace Change Proposal will be implemented under the Civil Aviation Authority’s ‘CAP1616’ process, which directs an airport or airfield to engage with those geographical areas that may be affected by any proposed flightpath changes.  We have identified that your area could be affected by Royal Air Force Northolt’s Airspace Change Proposal.

We want to ensure that you are aware of this Airspace Change Proposal, and seek the input of local residents before we start the initial airspace design process.  Before we start to put any lines on maps, we would like to understand what is important to local residents and this information will influence the design principles that we use in designing the Airspace Change.  This way we can ensure that local opinion is taken into account, where there are choices to be made in the airspace design process.

You can let your views be known by completing the design principles form and sending an electronic copy to the email address below, or by posting a hard copy to ‘Senior Air Traffic Controller, RAF Northolt, RUISLIP, HA4 6NG’.  Please rank the design principles in it in order of preference for Tables Two and Three.

The form is here: 20190320-RAF Northolt Draft Design Principles-AL3-O

The associated PowerPoint presentation is here: 20190412-CLG B – 23 Apr 19-O

We stress that operations and usage at RAF Northolt will remain unchanged, just the airspace in which our aircraft operate will change.  What we are looking to achieve at this stage is simply to understand which of the design principles are most important to residents.  From there we can go about designing the airspace and share the proposals once complete.  For electronic contact please use the following email address:  NOR-Airspaceportal@mod.gov.uk

“Cancel HS2” petition – closes April 24

Somehow this petition has slipped through almost unnoticed. It will run only until the 24th April. It needs to get to 10,000 signatures to get to a Government response or, at 100,000, it might get a parliamentary debate.’  So, if you agree with the proposal, please sign it, if you haven’t already done so. Please pass the link on to everyone you can think of. Thanks!

We call on the Government to abandon the HS2 Rail project:

Pick-up Parking at Ickenham Station

One of the Committee members received this from NCP – the operators of the station car park:

The grace period at this site is 15 minutes.

Our car park Management team have confirmed they will have signage put up at the entrance; however, there is no Pick-up and Drop off area within the car park.

So, if you’re picking people up, don’t hang around more than 15 minutes.

Travel impacts of HS2 and other programmes

Report from Brian Adams following HS2 Traffic Liaison meeting with LBH:

The following is our latest understanding of the works taking place locally which will impact travelling. Some of the programmes are still being discussed and there may be changes to durations and dates.

February

9 – 10   Chiltern Line is closed between Marylebone and High Wycombe for HS2 works

11- 17   Creation of new access to HS2 West Ruislip construction site  which will result in closure of northbound cycle lane and pavement (opposite road to West Ruislip station car park)

March

11- 17    Harvil Road will be closed to enable repairs to the railway bridge (Note: this is a Network Rail programme not HS2)

March -April

HS2 Test pilings for the viaduct will be made in West Hyde, off Harvil Road (and possibly Moorhall Road). This will create  HGV movements in Harvil Road, Swakeleys Road and Swakeleys roundabout.  The peak HGV movement is anticipated to be 300 per day.

May – July

HS2 closure of Breakspear Road South for 8 weeks. Currently scheduled to start 24 May but community concern over impact to students taking examinations may lead to change.

HS2 Tunnel Boring Machine power supply

This programmes is still under discussion but HS2 has proposed a route. This can be seen in this map (PowerPoint). Initially there will be test trenches but once the programme proceeds it will take place over a year. We are advised that one lane will always remain open and no resident will have works in front of their house for more than 4 weeks.

RAF Resurfacing of Northolt runway

There will be HGV movements but we do not yet have details of routes or numbers.

HS2 Main Works

We await details of the HGV movements.

Breakspear Road South closure (again)
